I wasn't planning on blogging today because nothing too exciting has happened. I have been pioneering a new division at Cobalt and it is finally going through which I am very happy about.
I wanted to start a teen division because as anti-censorship that I know Mr.Baker is I feel like many of our books do not tailor to teens. I wanted us to start Cobalt Teen as a way to provide the same quality of book but to include some themes that affect the teenager today. I'm not saying teens can't read "adult"books but, occasionally they need books that talk to the issues they specifically deal with. So Cobalt Teen is official and is now in it's beginning stages and that has been a great achievement for me. I have been working with others to get the money, writers and mission statements together.
I celebrated all of this by going to Koi with the people who have helped me. And after some Yellowtail Sashimi and Grilled Tiger Prawns and 1 (maybe 2) Blackberry Martini I went home and slept it off. So,I haven't done any writing or anything worth blogging about but, I wanted to keep you all updated.
That Martini sounds delicious !
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you get to head up your own divison. I Guess you're moving on up !
ReplyDeleteI think you are one of the few writers at Cobalt whose material I feel isn't adult fiction. I guess most of JB's books seem to fit that bill. Will Gramercy Park be in the new division ?
ReplyDeleteI can't even pronunce half the things on the menu, thanks for keeping us updated
ReplyDeleteIF you need more writers let me know !
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your excited about Cobalt Teen. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.
ReplyDeleteA promotion ?! are you still going to have time for UL. I'm addicted ! ! ! !
ReplyDeleteFor a minute there I thought you put a blackberry in a martini ! LOL. can't wait for Cobalt Teen.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean with teen issues ? I love Cobalt but I'm afraid the teen department will be cliched. I guess if JB writes something, IMO
ReplyDeleteIs is true that JB's daughter is working with the Teen group. I'd love to see what she would right, Like Kelley ?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you come up with congrats !
ReplyDeleteDid Cobalt pick up the tab for Koi, it looks pricy

ReplyDeleteI lolIRL at your title. It's a pun right

ReplyDelete@ Theresea - Oh, it is a pun !
ReplyDelete
ReplyDelete@ Linda - It was
@ Mandy - I guess so, now all I need is a bigger office
@ Barb- we hired our writers about a year ago so, I don't think so. They are doing well under the Cobalt brand.
@Marie - Welcome to LA
@ Twice_Bitten - Contrary to belief we always need new writers
@ Julie R. -- Me to Julie
@ Lindy -- I will make time.
@ Swirlz- I was ROFL IRL over that you 21st centurian ! My blackberry wouldn't fit in a martini glass
@ SOCAL_baby -- I mean things like going to middle school, dealing with SATS, Puberty, Cyber bullying and figuring out who you are. I want teens to see more images of themselves than the ones in The Hills, NYC Prep and any CW show.
@Red-Rose -- I don't know, I think JB lets the older kids help out or hang out around here but, they don't officially work but I love to hear what they have to say. I don't think any of them want to be writers
@Love_darcy -- Thank you, hon
@ Beachy -- No, it was a splurge
@ Theresa -- Nope just me writing while slightly buzzed.
@ 15min-- It has been a long struggle
ReplyDeleteThat was a lot I have no clue how Linda does it
