Alright so I am surprised by how long it took for this chapter to finally get done. I knew where I wanted this chapter to go but, getting there was hard.
I have to say I have become so excited about United Light and the new "deeper" level I want to take it to that I feel like I have neglected IVB but, I may take a sick day and work on it. I am not sure what level I want IVB at.
There are lots of little (and some irrelevant) hints and easter eggs. I didn't want to say anything about them because I didn't want readers looking to hard for them but, they are there. I don't have much else to say.
And no, JB did not write any of this chapter. He is away on tour this week and we all wish him the best !
The playlist pretty much goes that the number after 21 goes with the song. So, 21.1 is song 1. The only one that is really matched up is that last one.

ReplyDeleteI found it interesting that Caine notices that Juliana is more than the timid girl that she was in the beginning. It was so sad about Juliana's mother.
ReplyDeleteThis chapter was amazing I think it made the entire story come full circle. It's like Juliana ended up in the one place she didn't want to in the start of the story.

I liked the part with the lipstick and the colored font, very nice. I think Caine has offical made United Light more like a cult than a lifestyle.

Hmm, I think the picture is actually Ophelia from Hamlet who was believed to have lost her balance. The mention of the nonsense poem reminded me of Alice in Wonderland.

Oh, dear I can't believe Juliana has lost her Mom. I will admit I do like seeing more about Caine. He seems like a sleazy politician but the fact that he thinks he is a god-like is freaky.

ReplyDeleteThis chapter was really emotional but the first lines reminded me of Devil Wears Parada.
The name "Mrs. Caine" just seems so wrong. It seemed like Juliana's mother was the stronger one I wonder if her father is more empathetic.

ReplyDeleteI was afraid this was the end, but then again I always am. I enjoyed this chapter too I feel like Juliana has really grown but I also think Caine has some darker plan for her.

I don't know what I'll do when this is put on hold for IVB. I was a little hesitant towards Juliana after the Cortland thing but she is handling this arranged marriage differently.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned how perfect the last song was for the chapter. It was so sad but I found it hard to feel sad the Melanie was dead because of how selfish she seemed.

I can't help but to wonder about Rhett as well. I think we all want him to be a good person because he is young but I think he is just as evil as Caine.

ReplyDeleteAh, I'm so scared I need more ! ! ! This chapter had a very dark and foggy tone to it, I am squeeing over the lipstick part and I have no idea why. I'm rooting for Rhett is not evil but I don't know.

@ Maylights-- Yes, they are all their intentionally. The picture is of Ophelia it is not the most famous painting but I found this one more peaceful and prettier. The flowers foreshadow her suicided.

@ Kandi - He is the only one to have seen her from before and after the commune but also Caine is very much a people-person in that he reads people.
@Tabby-- Yes, I don't think Juliana could have ever forseen herself here.
@MakeMeLALA-- THose were the made-up names. They just sounded very politician-y to me. I will say Rhett's last name came from the fact the Gone With the Winds Rhett was played by Clark Gable in the movie.
@ Poppy-- Yeah, I meant to put a warning on it about that, I forgot. I hope Greg is alive too !
@Bluebelle-- Yes, you have it. When I knew Juliana was going to commit suicide I used Ophelia's as inspiration. That is where all the flower refernces and her mothers death came in. After her fathers death Ophelia gives her friends and family flowers singing nonsense songs before she died. I personally think she commited suicide it is much more pathetic in a fictional kind of way.
Sunset-- Caine is more of a crooked politician (how Tom Clancy of me ). While he believes he is above others, he does not really believe he is God-like he is only doing it for money and support from the believes

Alyssa- She wears the heels because she hopes they will make it easier for her to fall if she chickens out at the last minute. She can't walk in them so she figures she might fall off the banister if she can't jump.
