I did a little theming with names as I tend to do, I always look for themes to help me come up with appropiate names. Because I intended UL to be an adventure I purposely named Sawyer after Tom Sawyer. I did later find out that Tom Sawyer had a half brother named Sid, with that information I did name Sawyer's parents after Mark and Olivia Twain.
I can finally reveal to you all that most of what happened in these chapter was originally at the end of the light blue writing. I had shuffled through so many plots at that time. First when I wanted Juliana to actually be pregnant I wrote that Sawyer goes to visit his parents instead of going back to San Costa.
Then I ditched that and decided to have Caine force Juliana to marry him but then I ditched that too. None of it fit and that was the time when I was feeling the most down but, it worked out.
As I have said previously I have been super busy. I barely had time to write chapter 20's outline (yes, I am outlining!) but I keep this story dear to me. While I have a general idea of what I want it to do I still don't know what will happen next.
I feel like I have more to say but, I will save that for future entries. Anyway here is Chapter 20

ReplyDeletegreat chapter Shawna, I love the realization that Juliana's home doesn't feel like home to her I think it shows the "out in the middle of the sea" path her life has taken.

ReplyDeleteI totally just noticed something with all the mention of blue how back in chapter 16 or 17 I believe, Elisa is telling Sawyer to wear a blue-colored tie.
The last song was so perfect, I feel as if Caine added extra cruelty with the mirror.

reading Science!Sawyer was eye-opening it made me like him a lot more than I have. I'm glad Rose got away it must have been a hard choice.

ReplyDeleteI don't understand the bit at the end, are we to assume that Shawnw does not write her own work, it has been obvious that she has had trouble but I feel as if "United Light" is more of a collaborative work now and JB should get none or partial credit for the entire thing.

Oh, this chapter was so exciting ! I mean action wise in the start but towards the end it got a little sad but Julianna was just not giving up I thought that was so wonderful and when she broke the window with the chair it showed Physical and emotional strength, or so the ladies from my book club felt. We like to read United Light because it's free and you have to save money wherever you can nowadays ! I hope you don't stay busy just remember to take time and relax.

Maylights-- Of course not. I may as well get this out the way now.I wrote 2 outlines and I had Joel write the meat of the story with my close supervision. In other words I had to delete a lotof swearing.
I needed help getting back into the writing thing and this offered the perfect chance for me. It was really awesome that Shawna gave me this chance. It was hard writing under so many restrictions though but still fun -- Joel

CranberriVodka-- There was no real thinking. Originally when I wrote the first preview she had no name because it never came up. Then I went back and added it, I just liked the name and I am glad I chose it.
BasketCase-- They are a little bit but, I will write an entry about this later. The color of the liquid signfies how strong the tranquilizer is by looking at it so if they are taking out someone bigger or smaller. The color thing is just coincedental.
Kennedy-- They think she had a psychotic break and is unstable. I will explain more about this later. I love this song too even though I am sure it is actually about war.
Biteme-- Me too,it is something I wanted to showcase for a while.
Sunset -- No, the numbers don't really mean anything. The ones with the higher numbers do have more senority.
