More OneShots

Rhett

My first intention when I decided to write a Rhett oneshot was for it to be about his homecoming and for it to be a very short story. It was originally just going to be something like the first part when Rhett was talking to Cody but, some how it became a lot more memoir-like than I anticipated. I will say that writing that has really gotten me thinking about my characters and I really have learned more about them.

UL Sequel

It is still un named but, I am trying a new path with this and attempting to outline the entire thing but, that is proving to be a challenge. I do have some idea on what I want the plot to be. I have been trying to base much of the plot on actual stories but, that is getting harder to do.

And if you think there are loose ends in these short stories these stories do extend to the overall UL sequel plot.

Also another side note I have decided that UL takes place in 2003. Now, I know that messes with a few small things like Cortland having an iPhone and all but, it was the only way Rhett's dad could have died in Desert Storm and Rhett be 18 plus, it goes with a song I may use later.

Rose Garlands and Golden Stars

In case you haven't figured out the title for this series of short stories come from the literal translation of the names Rosencrantz and Gildenstern (sp?) They are two minor characters in the Shakespeare play Hamlet who have gone on to appear in a lot of their own works. I thought it was a nice title because all these oneshots are a chance to give the minor characters in United Light their own story.

Rosa Erickson

I Will Remember You by Sara Maclachlan

Goodbye My Lover by James Blunt (I have had this song for a while, I thought it was very Tomfia and I always imagined Lile may use it. )

Cecelia Winston Hills

In Between by Linkin Park (I'm starting to love this band)

Playlist to the right as usual.

  1. I was always curious about the name, I thought it was a coincidence.

  2. At first I would have thought GCS would be all happy and lovey dovey. . . was not expecting what happened.

  5. Hm, it looks like the comments don't show up.

  6. Usually when I hear "I will remember you" I think of graduations but it is appropriate for funerals.

  7. Yeah, Elisa ! Sawyer always brings bad news

  8. I am really into this whole GCS thing, did we know that the baby was Sam's (better yet, how do they know ?)

  9. Eh, I can't help but to side with Greg. Sam seems to a little over-dramatic.

  10. ^ Yes but Lia and Sam are both artist (she plays guitar right ?) so they probably get along better.

  11. Am I the only on who wants to know the jokes Elisa is going to make concerning the GCS situation, which I think is sadder than Rosa's.

  12. I like this, it's like they have moved on but are still haunted by the past. Do you know if everyone is going to come together again for the sequel.

  13. The comment about Sawyer looking like Caine was cringe worthy.

What do you mean by ". . .base much of the plot on actual stories "

  15. "Lia" is that really the best nickname for Cecilia, Sam ?

  16. Sawyer doesn't seem like the "Cece should be married" kind of guy. I mean he wasn't going to marry Juliana when he thought she was pregnant.

  17. I think Raleigh really became a character for me in Rosa's Oneshot, before he was just a name.

  18. Rosa seemed to be doing really well till the last part, she is going through alot.

  19. Yeah, so the sequel is happening ! I'm so excited.

  20. Wow, James Blunt's voice is all over the place. Did you use a James Blunt song because "No Bravery" was used during Logan's death.

  21. Linda-- No, it wasn't a coincedence, I had a hard time coming up with a name.

Maylights-- I would expect that too but, I had to be real for a second.

Maylights-- I know, I didn't want it to be too sad so thats why i coupled it with Ceceilia's story.

Carleigh-- I have noticed the comments on blogger have been messing up, they don't always show right after you post them.

HappyApple-- I honestly had no idea how cliched of a song it was until after I was too attached to it.

Cory Ann-- Sawyer does always get the rough end of things. That reminds me about something about Sawyer . . .

CranberriVodka-- Well, they know because Greg and Cecelia haven't been together since she married Sam.

Princess-- Part of that comes from the fact that Cecelia doesn't know what they were talking about while she was outside.

    Sundance_girl--- That's a point but not necessarily.

Sawlisa-- I think Elisa is trying to be sensitive for know but, I'm sure she'll have jokes soon.

Lorrie C-- If I did (which I might) I'm not sure I would be inclined to tell you.

    CA_girl-- I know.

Strawberry_Margarita -- I meant I'd use inspiration from things that have actually occurred to write the stories. Kind of like Law and Order ripped from the headlines but, it would be headlines you all would not be familiar with.

Wildehorse-- He didn't want to use Gregs and I think of it as like Topher for Christopher.

HeapsofLace-- It has more to do with the benefits you get from being married like discounts on healthcare which she will need for the baby.

Darcy_Lover-- You know, for me he became a character pretty early on and I wanted to convey that.

Dani-- Doing really well was the illusion she created for herself when what she really needed was to vent.

Biteme-- Yep, it's been happening for a while

vanillabear-- Is James Blunts voice being all over the place a good or bad thing ? I've just honestly always liked that song.

I have no idea how long the UL sequel will take me but, I hope you all hang in here with me.
