The New Thing
The only thing I can really update writing-wise is on this new thing, which is in the bare bones phase. Normally, I wouldn't even talk about it but I've already come out with it so, I thought I'd keep you updated.
To answer some comment questions, it is in some ways a sequel to Blessed Hearts. Now, if you remember in that serial all the characters died and Soul and Rin were reincarnated. This story may/or may not explore that. But, mostly may not. But also will. Welcome to my nightmares.
I've written about 200 words and I have a plot outline...I just need to give my characters names. I struggled with whether to change their names or give them new ones, but I decided to give them new ones. But I'm not sold on it. I mean if it weren't for Soul this would be an easier decision. Either way, I'm super excited to start getting in to this world and becoming comfortable with it.
It also has a title, but I tend to change the titles (as you'll see) so I'll keep it under lock and key for now. When I'm 4 chapters deep I'll probably do some posting.
Vice
Well, Vice is still going along swimmingly. I've actually had to rearrange pieces because some chapters were too long. I admit, from TDOLL I know there are some parts I should strike through, but I have my reasons.
I have all of Vice all plotted out and I do think it will be more than one part. In thinking about Vice I would love to write something small and concise, but then I look at big sprawling series and think, sure, why not ? I could do so much in this world.
Oh, speaking of names, don't be surprised if I start changing the name. I'm just not sure it fits anymore.

I've also started using Spotify Radio over Pandora and it's been working out for me. It's giving me newer stuff.

Well, technically they are in the Wild West area. And to be honest this going to an "uncivilized" west is a HUGE literary trope I borrowed from !

ReplyDeleteHe's not crying, it's the tears that fall out of his eye that he can't control. I only kept that piece in b/c that is how the original Ch. 3 started.

DeleteShawna, what stuck out to me was the way in which Minnie and Jean seem to have this deprecating black humor about the destruction of the LoLa. The way they make jokes and insert black humor about hoping it burns down. It makes me think they are either

Well, you are right about point A. They aren't from there, that is something I will say.
DeleteAnd also about B. One of the things you can keep in mind while reading this is figuring out what Jean and Minnie care about. Or what there emotionally connected to. That's something even I am still trying to figure out.

I think it's cause Alan can teach her how to "pass" in the East. It will be cool to see more of the East in this serial.

DeleteWhat I think it eerie is that the whole city was deserted and they are all being bussed back in. That seems so creepy and the music just added to that fear.
ReplyDeleteI know ! I really liked the beat and rhythm of the song, so I never really listened to the lyrics until recently, but they do add a creepy factor.

DeleteThis is one of those author things, I just really associate this serial with purple because of Minnie's hair, so I always use it as my go to color. But, wait where is my font purple ?
