Chapter 13
Okay, seriously, how did we get here ? I have to admit I'm hitting a bit of Writer's Block...I know what I want to write, but having a hard time translating it. I kind of figure that for whatever reason I write better after posting a chapter, so here we are.
I don't have much to blog about so I'm just going to get to it ! Besides there are a few "reveals" coming up so I don't want to confuse anything by mentioning one to early. I almost did it in the last comment section.
Previously on Vice:

So, I had a thought. What if Alan's dad is Vice!Maxwell ? Hmmmmm

DeleteAre we going to learn more about Derek's involvement with Promethus ? Is Sara not satisfied with thinking he went so far to stop Promethus because it was inhumane ?

DeleteI think most Sci-Fi and Spec. Fic has shown that it can create a class war and when "real" humans thinks they are superior to others well . . we know how that goes.

Well, all Derek did was discover Tempus was behind Prometheus, that's what got him killed. By the time he discovered it (and i know the timing is confusing) the project had been quietly dismantled and swept under the rug.
DeleteAlso, the only thing that makes creating a human so illegal in this world is that it is illegal in this world. It's just against the law.
Which makes me think about how right now cloning is pretty much against the law.

ReplyDeleteMaybe. See this is the thing about 1st person narration. Alan only knows about Saint from what Saint says and Saint has been programmed not to remember so, it's like we're trapped.

DeleteWell, they did use some of those organs to make him. But they used very small parts of it.
DeleteAym- I mean you can kind of think of it like people with heart/cornia/kidney transplants. The cornia ones are the ones that really amaze me.
Is there a legal percentage of flesh a person can't have ? I mean if

DeleteIt's not so much taboo as it is much harder to care for someone who is made of that much cybernetic in a military setting. If they got hurt you couldn't just take them to a regular doctor or infirmary, you'd have to take them to a specialist and then maybe pay for extra parts or something
I like the dichotomy between man and machine. What does it mean to be human ? Can machines feel ?

ReplyDeleteWell, some of them aren't even in the Top 40 right now, but they were at some point.
DeleteApart from the Saint project was there an event that triggered making people illegal ?
ReplyDeleteWhat about those things that carried the bombs used by the EU, where those all mechanical ? What makes them so different from Alan ?
DeleteConstance- No, it's just been decided it's illegal for ethical reasons.
DeleteHolliday- The things with the bombs were just drones, which are machines operated from a remote location---they just looked human-ish as like a scare tactic. They were clearly machines like an unmanned vehicle.
