*Deep Breath*....Let's Try Something

It's time for Compulsion....

Let's Try Something....Familiar ?
So, we've made it to a Vice sequel where no one died in the last installment, so with that Vice 2 is going to have a very different vibe from Hidden.

Things do get different and a little crazy, but we're going to ease in slowly and figure this all out together.

Here is a quick (poorly done) recap of Vice

In the year 2100 in the Western Republic;

Alan Gray is kidnapped from his home in the Eastern State by a group of assassins for the Shinjuku Cartel, a chrome cartel led by Rayne Washington. When Alan has a dangerous overdose he must join the cartel to keep himself alive

In a turn of events, Alan discovers he isn't human at all, but an android made by his mother in an secret illlegal Tempus project that cost her her identity. His disspeareace caught the attention of the government and now he must remain,um..Hidden. (hmm)

Sara Grace is an assassian and hacker for the Shy Cartel and brings in millions by being the only person who can hack the Republican Liberation Army draft. And others are noticing.

Jean and Minnow Dory are siblings caught up in the cartel lifestyle. Jean, a popular male escort who sticks by Sara's side and Minnow a teen drug addict and escort who stands by Jean and the Cartel but not trusted enough to join it herself.

Luce Grace, Sara's son who is part cyborg and is pushed by his mother to live a normal life for however long his cybernetic surgeries will keep him alive.

But now the  Republic is changing. A war between East and West for power and control has started and after a corruption is discovered the  newly formed RLA has been put in charge of the government.

  1. Well, honey you aren't a giant hype machine if you give the people what they want ! You totally tricked me, that's some classic Lils 's bait-n-switch !

Clara : Aw, just when I thought there'd be a worse parent than me.

*sorry, i was really thinking that*

    1. Sam's Smith is amazing ! I think the song kind of sarcastically commenting on Alan's situation.

    2. Lol, I actually thought about doing it for real though. But honestly Clara, I don't think Minnow would be that bad of a mother. *hides*

    3. No, classic Lils bait and switch would envolve making the reveal 21 chapters and an epilogue later

    1. But. . . but mimic!Alan and mimic!Jean were so awesome.

    2. I am so in love with Mimic!Alan. Mostly because he gets to be romance-y in a way that he's just not at the age he is now.

  3. I'm over here like I'm not ready ! I'M NOT READY. Now I needed a longer chapter.

    1. It's funny I've actually lost context for what a good chapter length. Most of these are 3,000-4,000 and then some are close to 6,000 and I wonder if those should be split...

  4. Hmm, why is plastic surgery called plastic surgery ? Did they used to use plastic originally ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's kind of funny that to us the surgery Blackbird does seems macabre to us, but I bet if people alive 100 years ago knew we but silicon in people's chest for looks they'd lock us up.

    2. Qwerygirl--Cute username ! I don't know the answer to your question.

Eden- Good point, but (this is something I'll get into later about how things change over time) plastic surgery existed 100 years ago--they rebuilt faces of wounder WWI soldiers.

    1. I'm kind of afraid you all would have hated me if I actually went there and made them parents. I mean it'd really kill the vibe of the story.

  6. Compulsion makes me think of Alan's backstory between Hidden and Mimic. Was this inspired by that ?

  7. Since reading The Answer Is Yes, I can't help but wander if Alan hadn't been kidnapped, he would have ever figured out he was an android on his own ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Honestly, no. His parents wouldn't let that happen because it would just be too much for him. Alan would have had no other way of finding out and he'd never have a reason to be curious.

  10. Is it bad for image if I talk about how much I love this ? I think Perse might be giving Minnie a run for her money. Even though the mom in me wants Alan with a girl who isn't a hooker.

    1. Wow, SHV I bet there is some stuff in here Olivia J would not approve of. Lol, JK (: (; 0: @: %: #((: +=(( ##

Anywho this another great piece about the gritty reality of urban American in a post-industrial technology ridden ecosystem of detriment to national prothegy of a holistic society.

      Delete
    2. . . . I don't think Prothegy is a word.

      Delete
    3. If it helps Coriander, Minnow isn't really a hooker anymore, she can't find work...I mean also she was a bad hooker, so...yeah.

Thanks, MT. As usual your comments are....enlightening.

      Lile, If Prothegy isn't a word, it can be the name for the next serial in the Lux world. (;

  11. I hate to take Tabby's theory having fun, but I kind of wander if Alan is going to meet someone else like him.

    1. I feel like I've said this before, but there is some Breaking Bad stuff going on up in here. Turf war is serious business.

    3. Violeta - Me too !

Carleigh- And How. (Have you been hacking into my computer ???)

Ms. Four - As I said ish gets real.

    1. Yes, but don't try and do the math to make everything add up. I tried to align everything the best I could.

  13. Reading the recap makes me realize how more character oriented Vice is. The story is essential told through their own personal stories.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I had originally tried writing it more generically, but I realized it was easier this way. In the Vice!World everyone has their own motivations for being a part of this lifestyle which wasn't really in Vice.

  14. . . . So I know it might be sort of messed up and gory, but I kind of want Flash Fic of Sara giving birth.

  18. I had a question from the last story. In No Regrets When Sara asked to have the implant taken out does the doctor not do it , becuase it's illegal.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. She does have it taken out, it's taken out by Blackbird when she meets him...and it's not that it's illegal it's just very dangerous and can leave a person brain dead. It's not really illegal because no one would think someone would do that.

      Delete
  19. Wow, I can't believe Luce hit a girl.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Luce has issues. And him hitting a girl isn't supposed to be funny or anything, Sara is pretty pissed off and (not to condone this) he does actually feel really bad.

  20. I mean drugs and killing people for parts is bad. . .but as long as a gang isn't selling women they are okay. *slight sarcasm*

    1. I get into this later, but to answer your question without spoilers; no not really. They all kind of know each other is how they can tell, also they wear certain colors or have tattoos. Okay mini-blog on these cartels and their make up

Shy Cartel - So, they are made up of a system of drug dealers and traffickers so they can be anyone who is loyal to them.

Donnelly's - Now, they were an actual family so a lot of them are related or married into the family, so they looked the same.

Mjollner - Similar to the Shy Cartel.

We will get into this later, I promise !
