A Christmas Story ?
So, I've accepted this challenge, Lile. I will say though, I'll probably do two stories---one cracky and one a little more serious.

No Need To Call Maury
So, I think it is safe to say that you all get that Rayne is the father of Sara's child. Their child was actually conceived in Vice, but I wasn't sure if I was ever going to use it.
In chapter 12 of Vice everyone (including Rayne) is at Sara's apartment as she is hacking someone out of the draft. After they do that Alan leaves to go talk to Jean and Sara makes him take Luce with him leaving her alone with Rayne.
Then when they get chased back an hour later Rayne is gone and Sara is alone and taking a nap on the couch (because she is...tired *wink) and then Sara doesn't ever drink the rest of the serial.
Chapter 7 or Things I've Googled That Have Me on A Watch List
So, this is another short chapter and the last super short one I see in the forecast. I was just getting my bearings in these early chapters so that's why there are so many in the beginning.
So, back to Fort Harmony. Alex refused an offer from Sgt. Maxwell to go home and has settled into being a model prisoner while Harlow was given two weeks in solitary for refusing to work and talking back...
Chapter 7 (also, I just realized I re-used a line from a previous serial...see if you can spot it. I felt like I was having dejavu everytime I read it until it finally clicked.)

Oh, Honey you are a master with the music. You had us worried thier was no Vice 2 but it seems you've been as plotty and sneaky as I usually am!
ReplyDeleteAt the end of Vice I didn't have a vision for Vice 2 at all and I meant it. Somewhere along writing HMLIS Vice 2 kind of poofed into existence...I'm freaking myself out because I'm 6 chapters ahead and I want to maintain being ahead.

ReplyDeleteThe one thing I regret about Sundays (well, not really the ONE thing) is I could never figure out why Harlow committed suicide.
DeleteI'm a little worried about Alex, he seems really naive he should have just let Mayfield suffer through his attack. Did he not realize what was going to happen ?
ReplyDeleteYes, but Alex's niceness or maybe gentleness is the right word ? Is part of his personality.
DeleteIf there is a stock character in Vice 2 it's Haley. He is the most ingenue-y of ingenues....although I guess Minnow/Jean are the hooker with a heart of gold.

Can we make suggestions. I 'd love some Rhett/Juliana fluff. Didn't their Marriage Celebration Reception take place in December ?

DeleteSlodger-- See Rhett/Julianna make things complicated because I'm not sure if OHG is cannon or not. I mean if I were to reboot OHG It'd have the exact same background with just a different plot.

I'm totally worried about Alex's future emotional state and how Maxwell might use that.
ReplyDeleteThis is interesting. Because this is a reboot you all already have one narrative in your head for Maxwell/Haley...I'm going to try and challenge that (but also keep a lot of it the same).

DeleteI do know a little bit about Haley's dad but I'm not sure if I'm going to put it in. It doesn't really fit, but I'm a pantser so who knows maybe it will show up.

DeleteHmm...I don't know the details. I will say that when Ivy married Rayne Sara lost her best friend, and kind of resented Ivy for letting that happen. That's why Sara always calls her "Mrs. Washington", It's an insult.

t I'm trying not get caught up in the worldbuilding because then I'd never write anything down. I could spend hours inventing fashion, technology, slang, pop culture and other things for Vice, but I choose to rely on the fact that fads are cyclical and not everything in the world will be replaced or called something new in 80 years.

DeleteI will say being ahead really throws me off because you all touch on things that haven't happened and I need to remember that.
If we are taking suggestions may I throw in a past Christmas with Rayne and Ivy. Their relationship fascinates me, because it's built on years of respect.

awww, I think it's so sad about Sara and Ivy. It's not like Ivy wanted to be Mrs. Washington.
