So, as I said in my last post there would be some little references to Kurt Vonnegut and that is what Jean and Minnie are. They are named after Vonnegut's Kilgore Trout (who is named after real life Theodore Sturgeon).
So, Jean is a man. His name is a play on the name of the fish John Dory. So, it's pronounced like the English name John although in my head it's more JA-n than j-OH-n. With an emphasis on the 'j'. Minnow is named after the fish as well. It is just their names I would not look to far into it. I have to say there are not a lot fish names that work as people names.
As far as other names I did play around with Sara Graces's name. I tried Cera, Sariagras, Sarah Grace.
Pictures
I only have pictures for some of the characters introduced:
Alan Gray

Based a little on Zac Efron's even features but, Tom Felton a little too.
Sara Grace

Based on Kate Winslet
Jean Dory

Imagine Jonny Depp with white hair
Minnow Dory

Ashley Greene. She is probably the actor who resembles my idea of a character the most.
What if ?
I have to say there are a lot of what if's that I take in consideration in writing this. Beauty Standards exist for a reason--because they are what some people find attractive and want in themselves. There are surgery's to open eyelids, lighten skin, fix noses that make a lot of money. I had to ask myself if people could choose how they look would they really want to be different. The answer in this scenario is no.
Music
I've always liked to type to piano music so, I will be incorporating some of it into this. I know a lot of the songs sound similar . . . I suppose I am trying to set a mood ? There will be a lot more diverse sounds as this goes on.
Chapter 3
Before I get to chapter 3 I do want to say a lexicon is in progress right now.

Oh, honey thank you ! You can take the first ride in my new Siena!
ReplyDeleteI love the color theme in the playlist it's pretty.
The naming scheme is interesting, I'm flipping out ! (bad pun)
From what I gather many of these CP feature around technolgy blinding people. DO you think this being post-CP and the fact that the internet has opened people up plays a role or is there less truth in reality that way ?
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I saw Sara Grace as the same age as Alan (which I guess she could be), this chapter lead up to some interesting revelations I wonder what is coming next.
ReplyDeleteSo, were they in like a house of basement before ? Was that guy Sara shot a Prisoner.
ReplyDeleteIf we were to visualize syndicates where would the date show up ?
ReplyDeletehmm, so AG was born on Veterans day. Wonder if there is any connection.
ReplyDeleteI don't know the whole evil government warn torn modern US thing seems a bit cliched but I'd like to see where you go with it.
ReplyDeleteGreat, now every time I think of Jean I'll think of Gordon Ramsay on Hell's Kitchen !
ReplyDeleteLooks like Alan is a bit of an underachiever or is he just average. I notice how detached he seems from his Nikons. ie closing his eyelids.
ReplyDeleteYou know some people may see the plot as being cliched but for many 3rd world counties this is reality for them, constantly moving from place to place and dealing with militias.
ReplyDeleteJust saying
I love the Twilight music !!!
ReplyDeleteSo the title makes it's grand appearance. I wonder if Veritas could be equivalent to The Constitution.
ReplyDeleteWill there any other references to look out for ?
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Twilight I love the LOTR music ! *is excited for blu ray*
ReplyDeleteAs a big Shawna Harrison fan I see many of the same themes in this serial as in IVB and UL, a big one being characters working independently of their surroundings and situation.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was implied that Jean was male in his introduction when they were called Joygirl and Joyboy
ReplyDeleteI guess NewCal Tech isn't in California. Does the fact that the Silicone Valley is would be in the Republic have anything to do with the war ?
ReplyDeleteI guess for obscurity sakes we all want to know if Alan is gay or not ? Or does that no longer exists.
ReplyDeleteI see we have some Shakespeare quoting, guess the bard does stand the test of time.
ReplyDeleteFor the sake of me I can't imagine society being fine without Technology (sorry, WALL-E). It is to much apart of who we are as people.
ReplyDelete^ I think the thing to keep in mind is what the term technology means in 2081.
ReplyDeletehmm, I noticed the "V" in validation isn't capitalized. I wonder if that has significance.
ReplyDeleteeh, 60 plus years and we are still calling them G-men ( and women)
ReplyDeleteHolo screens ? You mean everything isn't in 3D ? LOL JK
ReplyDeleteI wonder what is outside the window
ReplyDeleteLinda-- The color scheme was just for you. Be sure to check your brakes !
Natalie-- That's a hard question. I think the internet has changed things but,in reality most postCP is more the technology is bad while in other CP the technology is a backdrop. I can answer this question better.
Picture_girl-- Well, she is older than Alan.
Maylights-- Yes, they were in a basement. The guy she killed was a looter.
Snowqueen-- Well, the date could be a LCD screen in the side like on cellphones. Or he saw it in her hologram screen.
Petite_B-- No, that is just Kurt Vonneguts birthday
HappyApple-- It is a bit cliched but, also very Truth in Fiction . . .
CranberriVodka--Sounds yummy !
BlueBells-- In my head he is average but, wants to be more. The lenses are like permanent eye contacts so, you can't actually see them.
Masion-- You and I may be sharing one mind
NextMrsC-- Yes, well Eyes on Fire was the inspiration music for the whole thing
World_In_my_eyes-- Umm, well I suppose so except the constitution is a law. THis is something they voluntarily follow.
SilverPhoenix-- Except the birthday thing . . . not really.
LOTRMom-- I have one more song I may never get to use from LOTR. Your username is awesome !
Carleigh--That was beautifully put. Yes, I agree you will see some recurring themes.
DearRhett-- Well someone called him an he/she/it so, I thought I might clarify.
VanillaBear-- Not really, no.
Sawlisa-- Well if such things as "gay" and "straight" exists than yes it still exists. In my head Alan isn't gay. Although interesting you bring this up . . .
Terri84- Yes but, notice how because Alan was raised by Atheist and around atheist how he changes the words.
CaliforniaBlues-- Well, Sara is a bit of a radical.
Natalie-- Yes, keep this in mind.
LoveSong-- Yes, it means you author needs to proofread better.
xsakurax-- Well, that is a slang term they use.
Costa-- I think holo-screens come after 3D.
Thanks for the comments !
