Let's Try Something . . .

Yes, I'm using that title so you know what that means. The newest web serial I am working on is called Veritas:Closer to Earth. I will go ahead and tell you not to look to much into the title. I will go ahead and say the Closer to Earth part comes from this trope and has no real significance except I liked the name of it.

As for the genre well, to be honest I don't want to say. I still want to see if someone still wants to try a guess. Either way I will tell you all in the comments and then in the next post I will explain how I got there (it's quite a long story). I'm not revealing the genre at this point because I think (and no offense, hon) when Linda revealed her genre everyone was expecting something macabre and scary (although I found LL quite bone-chilling--especially the end) so, I don't want to start any expectations at the very first chapter.

I am going to put a disclaimer on this whole web serial now : Any relations to real or living people or Cobalt employees it merely coincidental and I mean that. Any relations to fictional characters or people . . . should be seen as a compliment.

Other notes : I am having some issues with coming up with good images so, those may change from time to time. Also, the name veritas.yolasite was already taken so that is why it is at closertoearth. The numbers go with the songs and are added last , in case the breaks seem awkward.

  1. Oh, honey this is so interesting. As for this Cobalt employee thing I'm not sure how Jill feels about you and redheads.

  2. Hmmm, I'm sure someone called Sci-fi but it feels more. . . real than that. Kind of like Madeleine L'Engle. Very interesting

  3. Wow, my mind has been blown. The writing flowed so well. even their there are a lot of technical terms to keep track of this is so addictive. . . and long.

  4. You know even though this is very different from UL or IVB, I think the "human" aspects are very much the same. I mean when you strip away the futuristic part. I actually get a UL feel from this, IDK

  5. VCTE ? I think that is what we are calling it. The images went together really well so did the music. I see these new cell phone commercials and I think this could be our future

  6. I'm not one to predict things but I am starting to think Mr. Kyto was murdered.

so we have the Syndicate that comes in three models
    Sony S4
    Basic Issue
    and the apple one

and the Syndicate is like the internet and the Stimsim cast is like an App ?

    Just making sure.

  7. Awww, that father son moment was so adorable. I really felt the sadness of the funeral. Alan is such an interesting character.

  8. Oh, Shawna I should have know all these months of working together I would finally inspire you. Feel free to do what you will !

  9. I think I could get my BF to read this. Is there a certain reason God isn't capitalized ?

  10. Of course Alan would think he was in a tomb after witnessing a funeral. It's interesting that the radio is still around. Must be satellite.

  11. This line always bothered me.

". . .antique paper bills in sleeves to the left of me."

    Science Fiction, I knew it.

  12. I'm shocked Soaps are still around, seeing as so many of them are getting canceled, this story is so intriguing.

  13. You know honey how you and are sometimes on the same page. . .I don't think this will be an issue any more.

  14. Just want to warn you that if people get offended you'll have to attend the sensitivity training. . . alone. JK. I think.

  15. This was so sad, It seems like Allison just had her dad ):

  16. In line with Natalie. Tempus creates Kytoxcin what does Asus do ?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I find this all highly believable I mean if you told someone from even 1970 about the technology we have today it would seem so creepy.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Is Alan's mom French ? Do french people even exist. So many questions.

    ReplyDelete
  19. even though it is complelety different, Mr and Mrs. Gray remind more of the Bennetts but Nina B. Is more active and doesn't seem like the soap opera type.

  20. Ah, Shawna are we losing you to the "Tropes Addiction" Three post with links included. It caused me to be late to work for 3 days.

  21. This red head girl is cut throat. That really is a lot like Jill.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I was not expecting this so soon ! There was so much information but so much mystery.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Is it strange to note how. . .normal the names sound when in UL the names were a little more unique.

    ReplyDelete
  24. kept our identity where it should be ; apart of us.

    - Hm something tells me that is not going to end well.

  25. Chrome as a drug ? I'll never look at my Google browser the same again.

  26. Linda-- Thanks hon ! The redhead thing, that is a coincedence, and it is one of many, that seemed to crop up (unfortunately Jill is still having me interviewed by Soulidad O' Ryan. . . yes, I spelled that right,)

Maylights-- Yes, someone did call Sci-Fi but, it really isn't. I loved a Wrinkle in Time so much though.

Corrie Ann- actually it's about 3,000 words like the UL2 pieces, I'm glad it seems long.

Carleigh-- As I write I am aware I let UL and IVB slip in sometimes. Ecspecially when there is some light humor.

HappyApple- It can just be called Veritas, if you would like.

Natalie-- Yes, Syndicates are like computers (I may need to start a lexicon) that come in different makes/models and stimsim is a special feature kind of like TV and HDTV.

    Princess- He really is . . .

    Greta-- Hmm . . . I don't really think you come up. But,I love ya hon !

    OctoberSky-- Kind of . . .

Kayleen -- There is a very specific reason it is and I will go ahead and explain. I asked myself what was around 80 years ago that is still around today and radio was one of those things as well as suits and ties--things like that.

CranberriVodka-- I can't take credit for that line, unfortunately. I'll explain later. By the way the genre is cyberpunk you guesses it the first time around when I first introduced a new genre and I was to stubborn to admit I had been bested !

Ashlyn-- Again, they were around 80 years ago and are still on today. Soapnet has created some new ones and Gossip Girl is considred a soap opera.

    Linda--Lol, thanks hon !

Julie Romano-- I think I will be okay, it really is tiny things like the redhead things and a few others.

Makemelala-- She has other family but, this is explained later.

SundanceGirl-- Oops ! I changed the company name from Asus to Tempus because Asus was a real company. That is a typo.

VanillaBear-- If you tell me about the technology we have today I would say it is creepy.

Frostypink-- So many answers you will have to wait for.

Darcy_lover-- They are actually very different. Mr. Gray is kind of the playboy a little bit.

Trinity-- I think I do have it, I really do.

Thanks for the comments, you all !

  27. For some reason I was hoping this would take place in Northern California. I don't think they kidnapped Alan intentionally because how would they have known where he was.

  28. Plastic cups ? I guess people are still into recycling.

  29. How in the world do you find music that is so perfect for each section. The immersion adds to the experience.

    ReplyDelete
  30. TBH, I didn't see the music breaks as out of place. So the ___ page break denotes larger amounts of time passing.

    ReplyDelete
  31. This is so scary, being tapped in the back seat of the car. I'm guess LOLA is like Sin City.

  32. Hfranklin-- She was going to be blonde for a while but, I wanted something different. Jill is really not at all that cut throat.

Aym-- I know but, I had to get some comments before I continued to see what needs to be clarified/how the characters come off.

DearRhett-- Well, every name (almost all of them) have a meaning or purpose behind them.

RedRose- I honestly debated deleting this line--it was something i wrote but, had nothing to really do with the plot but, it sounded like a sincere statement. It's kind of a red-herring.

Trichelle--Lol ! Although I can't take credit for this line either.

CaliforniaBlues-- Hmmm, have I said where it takes place yet ? Well, it's not a huge deal but, I have no idea why I write abou the East Coast a lot.

Sawlisa-- This was so it could be a to-go cup. He drinks pomegrante tea in the prolouge and it would be weird if he took a teacup with him.

    A. Montgomery-- Thank Pandora . . . and Twilight.

    ReplyDelete

  33. NextMrsCullen-- Well, the music is added last, I just wanted to say that. Yes, the --- lines denote a pass in time or scene change.

    Yoga-- You have no idea
