Let's Talk About Chapter Six
It's occurring to me it makes more sense to talk about the previous chapter that goes with this section and not just the previous chapter with the B storyline. So, I'll talk about Ch. 7 next post
Last post I talked a little bit about how yes, Rayne is the father of Sara's baby. And as the novella was supposed to hint at, Rayne and Ivy have broken up..although it's platonic so I guess it's more of a conscious uncoupling ? Even in the Veritas!world I always saw Rayne's marriage as being very cold and I couldn't figure out why and then I did...it was an arranged marriage.
Chapter Eight
Rayne and Ivy are done, Luce and Ivy both feel outsted by the baby and Minnow and Alan run into Dakota while running to get shoes for a party. What is this party about anyway ?

DeleteCanon: His family has been in The Republic for 4 generations so his great-grandmother or grandmother probably married an American. When you absorb someone's cartel into your own there is some intermarriage.
DeleteNon-Canon- When I first came up with his name I hadn't really thought this all through because he wasn't a main character. But I really wanted the Cartel to have an origin story and as well all know most crime families / gangs are started by immigrants.

ReplyDeleteOne of the things that interests me about religions, particularly big religions is how they are seen different ways by different people. Being a hasidic Jew, a cultural Jew or an orthodox Jew all mean different things.
DeleteRayne is religious in the way most mexican cocaine cartels are deeply Catholic. It's in their blood even though a lot of what they do isn't exactly good.

ReplyDeleteThis is interesting and something I can't get into since I'm only writing from Alan's POV. I think Rayne and his mother want their son to be "legitimate" so to speak, but Sara isn't going to marry Rayne. I think they are kind of making this up as the go along.

DeleteTrichelle - Well, that and I mean it is the 22nd century. Two people can have a child and not be married and make it work. Sara and Rayne are friends.
DeleteGlitterGirl- They decided to split up when Sara got pregnant because they didn't like each other and Rayne promised he'd still protect her family and honor their alliance.
They didn't fake the baby as being Ivy's because Rayne and Ivy are public figures and she'd have to fake being pregnant...also like hell Sara would give up her own child. (:
